Breakout session 2: Feeding the future – Innovation for sustainable and inclusive food systems

October 28th, 2026 — 15:30 - 16:30

Description

Food systems are under pressure from climate volatility, soil degradation and the need to make new technologies useful for producers of very different scales. A Focus Talk by Kyndryl will set the stage for the discussion with the practical example of AGRIBot, an AI agricultural assistant developed in France and India that combines government data, ICAR research and voice interaction in 22 regional languages to reach smallholder farmers directly.

The focus then shifts to regenerative agriculture, value chains and adoption, tracing the path from lab research to field-level impact. MYCOPHYTO in France combines mycorrhizal fungi with machine learning to develop soil biosolutions that can reduce synthetic fertiliser use and water consumption by up to 20%. Suranaree University of Technology’s Regional Science Park in Thailand presents a High-Quality Beef Innovation District linking genetic improvement with cold-chain traceability. In Brazil, tecnoPARQ at the Federal University of Viçosa shows how institutional mediation and rural training can help move research into productive adoption.
