Dr. Pitiwat Wattanachai is the Director of the Science and Technology Park (STeP) at Chiang Mai University and a lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, Thailand. He received his Doctor of Engineering in International Development Engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan.

With over a decade of experience in technology development and innovation management, Dr. Pitiwat played a leading role in establishing STeP and shaping it into a key driver of regional innovation. He currently leads the development of innovation infrastructures—including physical buildings, pilot plants, and support systems—for science, technology, and innovation ecosystems in Thailand.

In addition to managing STeP’s strategic direction and stakeholder engagement, he oversees national and international collaborations, funding acquisition, and senior staff development. Dr. Pitiwat also serves as the secretary of STeP’s Advisory Boards and continues to contribute to civil engineering education and research at Chiang Mai University.
