Philip Thigo, MBS, is a distinguished Technology and Public Policy expert. He currently serves as the Executive Director for Africa at the Thunderbird School for Global Management and holds the position of Technical Lead on Open Government for the Republic of Kenya.

Recognized globally for his contributions, he was honored by Apolitical as one of the World’s 100 Most Influential People in Digital Government in 2018. In 2024, he was named one of Africa’s Top 100 Most Influential African Leaders in Technology and Telecommunications by Africa Com in 2023, under the category of Government and International Organizations.

His expertise has earned him a significant role on the United Nations High-Level Advisory Board on Artificial Intelligence (HLAB), appointed by the United Nations Secretary-General. Additionally, he received a Presidential Commendation – Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (M.B.S) on Kenya’s 60th Independence Day Anniversary in 2023, in recognition of his distinguished service to the country.

In the realm of thought leadership, Mr. Thigo has co-authored insight reports for the World Economic Forum Global Councils, particularly in the areas of Food Systems Innovation and the 4th Industrial Revolution for Global Public Goods
