Amer Hashmi is a global strategist and thought leader with extensive experience shaping technology, innovation and knowledge driven ecosystems across the government, academia and industry dimensions of the Triple Helix Model of Innovation. A business graduate from York University, Toronto, Canada, he began his career at IBM North America before pioneering Pakistan’s first private sector data centers, laying the foundation for enterprise digitalization in the country.
As Founding Chairman of the Special Technology Zones Authority, he established the regulatory framework for Pakistan’s knowledge economy and played a defining role in advancing technology, innovation and entrepreneurship driven ecosystems. Previously, as Advisor and Chief Strategy Officer at NUST, he led strategic initiatives around the National Science & Technology Park and industry driven research and innovation across emerging technologies. He is also Founding President of GTTN, a policy think tank, where he currently serves as Vice Chairman.
He serves as Co Chairman of Karachi Technopolis and Quantum Global Data Center (QGDC), Pakistan’s largest data center project, providing strategic direction for the broader innovation ecosystem and its sovereign digital infrastructure. He also serves as Chairman of Exage Technology Group and Executive Chairman of xNotify, a global CMPaaS platform.
