Breakout session 1: Beyond the algorithm – AI and human factor

October 28th, 2026 — 15:30 - 16:30

Description

As AI moves from a supporting technology into increasingly foundational decision-making infrastructure, the question is not only what algorithms can do, but how much human judgement we retain alongside them, and how to embrace an ecosystem design that keeps AI augmenting human judgment rather than replacing it. SKEMA Business School in France opens the session with a Focus Talk on the “Cognitive Dependency Trap”, examining the risk that reliance on algorithmic outputs can weaken independent reasoning, and presents the Cognitive Dependency Index as a tool for maintaining critical oversight.

The other contributions approach responsible AI at an ecosystem level. Dinghao DH3 in Zhongguancun, Beijing, has developed a six-dimensional responsible AI platform incorporating ethical review and green computing into urban renewal. DOCEO AI in Canada presents a human-in-the-loop platform for public and social-impact organisations, focused on data privacy and verifiability. Vianeo in France takes a different approach, positioning AI as a “Socratic mentor” under ISO 56001 standards, designed to challenge innovators’ reasoning rather than simply provide answers.
