Breakout 12: Building a community of innovation and entrepreneurship

September 18th, 2025 — 11:15

What transforms isolated ventures into thriving innovation communities?

This session explores how inclusive frameworks, cognitive interdependence, psychological safety, and human-centred design contribute to building sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Glasgow’s GCID Venture Studio presents a replicable model based on multi-stakeholder collaboration and inclusivity, offering a roadmap for other cities and Areas of Innovation. A collaborative study by American and Brazilian universities highlights the role of interpersonal dynamics—among students, alumni, mentors, and investors—in shaping ecosystem performance.

Additional case studies from Iran’s ISTT and Turkey’s Teknopark İstanbul show how science and technology parks are cultivating strong innovation cultures through community-building, human capital development, and international collaboration.
