Owalo, Eliud

Eliud Owalo has been Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy since October 2022. With 23 years of experience in economics and management consulting, he has led significant digital transformation initiatives in Kenya, including the digitization of over 15,000 public services through the E-Citizen platform and expanding digital connectivity in unserved and underserved areas. In February 2024, he was appointed to the Global Innovation Board by the ITU. Alongisde, holding a BA in Economics and Business Studies, an MBA in Human Resource Management, and currently pursuing a PhD in Strategic Management, he was awarded Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya by H.E. President Dr William Ruto in December 2023 for his distinguished service to the Nation. His exposure to cutting edge technology, coupled with a keen interest in advancing the application of AI, IoT and machine learning in Kenya and the continent drives his mission for a technological revolution in Kenya and Africa.
