Elie Hachem is a Full professor at MINES Paris – PSL in Sophia Antipolis, and a recognized expert in computational mechanics. He is the director of the Centre for Material Forming (CEMEF), a research center located on the MINES Paris – PSL campus in Sophia Antipolis. The CEMEF’s work is focused on the science of materials and their transformation processes, which includes advanced manufacturing. His research involves using high performance computing and modeling to optimize industrial processes. His work is at the crossroads of material science, computational mechanics, engineering, and digital technology, and has applications in various sectors, including aerospace, automotive, and medicine. He served as a Visiting Professor at Stanford University (2012) and has received numerous scientific distinctions, including the IBM Faculty Award (2015), the Atos–Joseph Fourier Prize for excellence in high-performance computing (2019), and the IACM Fellow Award (2020) from the International Association for Computational Mechanics. He has recently received multiple prestigious European Research Council (ERC) grants for his work on using computational fluid dynamics and AI to improve the diagnosis and treatment of brain aneurysms.
