Juan Pablo Suárez Chacón is the Director of the Science and Technology Park at the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (UTPL).  As a tenured professor and coordinator of the Microbial Systems Ecology and Evolution research group, he has led numerous research projects on topics like plant-microbe interactions and biodiversity. With nearly 50 publications in indexed journals, his academic background includes a biology degree from the University of Azuay, Ecuador and a PhD from the University of Tübingen in Germany. His experience also includes serving as UTPL’s Vice-Chancellor of Research from 2015 to 2020 and as President of the Latin American division of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) from 2021 to 2024.
