Dr. Takron Opassuwan is the General Manager of the Science and Technology Park (STeP) at Chiang Mai University and a Lecturer in the Department of Industrial Engineering. With a strong background in industrial engineering and innovation management, he specializes in
technology incubation, intellectual property management, and research commercialization.
He has led numerous initiatives to bridge academia and industry, fostering innovation ecosystems in Northern Thailand.

At the upcoming 42nd IASP World Conference on Science Parks and Areas of Innovation, Dr. Opassuwan will present the case of the Hub of Talents for Plasma Technology (HPlas) at STeP as a leading model of International Open Innovation (IOI) in Southeast Asia. The presentation will highlight how HPlas integrates global research networks, interdisciplinary collaboration, and strategic public-private partnerships to advance plasma applications in energy, healthcare, agriculture, and sustainability. Through its s tructured innovation framework and five core strategies-ranging from talent mobility to cross-industry collaboration-HPlas demonstrates how university science parks can serve as catalysts for global competitiveness, economic transformation, and deep-tech leadership.
