Breakout 11: Role of innovation spaces in building an international centre for innovation

September 18th, 2025 — 11:15

How is international cooperation impacting the role of innovation spaces and their influence on global technological advancement?

This session reveals how international collaboration, strategic incubation, targeted funding, and future-focused infrastructure create pathways for emerging innovation leadership.

You’ll hear about various models, including Mexico’s PIIT, which showcases targeted funding mechanisms that advance sustainable, knowledge-based development. Brazil’s BRICS Innovation Center presents a model for international cooperation that drives sustainable economic growth, strengthening the Global South’s role in global innovation.

You’ll also explore China’s approach through two compelling Beijing case studies: examining technology business incubators’ pivotal roles in building international innovation centres, plus Zhongguancun’s “Future Land Center” demonstrating how technology parks promote international innovation centre construction.
