Danny Esselman studied both civil engineering (HTS Haarlem) and architecture at the Technical University of Delft. He began his career at VenhoevenCS in 1998 and became a partner and director in 2017. Danny Esselman is the leader on complex projects, working on architecture and urban design to future-proof innovation districts and science parks, urban neighborhoods and station areas. Esselman and his team are currently responsible, among other projects, for Hasselt’s Corda Campus masterplan (BE), BioScience Park Leiden (NL) and the Sportpark Campus Hilversum (NL). He fuels these design concepts with VenhoevenCS’ MicroCity-strategy to drive the integral development of innovation districts. On the scale of architecture, Esselman is the architect of the Alkmaar train stations, mixed-use complex Het Platform, NSI Lab Leiden and the recently opened underwater Bike Parking IJboulevard in Amsterdam. Drawing expertise from various disciplines and forming dynamic alliances, he is committed to the power of shared knowledge and innovating through research-by-design.
