Prof. Atilla Dikbas received his PhD from ITU in 1995 in the “Building Sciences.” Between 1995 and 1997, during his time as guest lecturer and Advisor to the Rector at Eastern Mediterranean University, he established the “Construction Management Research and Practice Center” at this institution while also carrying out research at Stanford and MIT in 1996. In 1998, he was appointed Advisor to the Rector at ITU where he established the ITU Project Management Center with her support. He managed donations to the Center and carried out R&D and training activities on the topic of information technologies based construction management. Prof. Dikbas also worked on the establishment of the ITU Informatics Institute and served as its Vice-Principal between 1998 and 2001 where the “IT Based Construction Management” Master’s program was established. Most significantly, he supported the establishment of ITU ARI Teknokent in 2003 which he currently leads as its CEO.

During his time as Visiting Lecturer at Dresden Technical University in Germany in 2002 and University of Reading in England in 2005 he conducted research on “Product and Process/Information Modelling (BIM” and “Competitiveness and Innovation in the Construction Sector.” In 2005, as a Turkish stakeholder in the 7th Framework European Union projects, he established the TechnoBee Academic Corporation, which in addition to carrying out projects in the construction sector, also produced two significant reports; namely, the “Turkey Informatics Valley Feasibility Report” and the “TRB2 Region Life Sciences Technopark Feasibility Report.” Between 2005 and 2008 Prof. Dikbas established and led the Young Entrepreneur Development Program (G3P) for two terms and in 2015, he acted as the Founding Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture at Istanbul Medipol University.

He currently continues in his role as CEO of ITU ARI Teknokent which has become a trail-blazing ecosystem on a global scale providing significant added value to the development of the country within the scope of technology-based development mobilization.
