Hussain, a visionary leader with an unwavering commitment to advancing global innovation, holds the role of CEO at the Sharjah Research Technology & Innovation Park (SRTIP), the fastest-growing R&D park in the region. Appointed directly by the Ruler of Sharjah, his mission is to forge collaborative, long-term partnerships among industry, academia, and the public sector, cultivating an ecosystem of enterprise and innovation.
As the driving force behind SRTIP, Hussain has propelled Sharjah as a premier research and development center in the UAE. His accomplishments include attracting major projects in transport and logistics, pioneering the R&D and commercialization of 3D construction technologies, and initiating regional entrepreneurship programs.
His impactful contributions extend to mentoring regional technological development, presenting as a keynote speaker at local and international conferences, and forming alliances with renowned global innovation hubs such as KAUST, SIAT China, Iran Science Park, Fraunhofer, TusPark China, Yildiz Technopark, HongKong Science Park, Estonia ITL and many others.
With a rich executive background, Hussain previously served as the Director General of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce for eight years, launching strategic economic initiatives like the SME Act, Sharjah Export Centre, Sharjah Commercial Arbitration Centre, and the Sharjah Business Forum. His leadership spans international corporations, including the Royal Dutch Shell Group, Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), Dubai Internet City, and various Dubai Holding entities.
Hussain’s global influence extends beyond his current role, as he now serves as the President of the West Asia North Africa Division for the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP). As an honorary board member of the Tatweer Forum and Maastricht University in the Netherlands, and President of the Emirates Business Council for Sustainable Development, he continues to shape the landscape of sustainable business practices.
His commitment to fostering innovation is further evidenced through his role as a board member of the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa) and the initiation of impactful programs like Women in Technology MENA and Sharjah Angel Investors. Armed with an MBA from the American University of Sharjah and a BA in Economics and Communications from Seattle Pacific University in the US, Hussain remains dedicated to making the world a better place through his ambitious and far-reaching initiatives.
