“Elevating Excellence – Innovation Spaces Driving High-Quality Development” was the main theme of the 42st IASP World Conference on Science Parks and Areas of Innovation, which took place in Beijing, on 16-19 September 2025.

With the rapid development of science and technology and the advancement of economic globalization, science parks, districts, areas of innovation and other innovation spaces have significant advantages and great potential in fostering innovation, driving the application of scientific and technological advances and facilitating industrial upgrading. They also play an important role in building regional innovation capabilities, improving the industrial structure, and promoting employment. As a general trend today, innovation spaces worldwide are concerned with how to drive the economy towards higher-quality development that is more efficient, equitable, sustainable, and secure.

Zhongguancun Science Park (also known as Z-Park) covers a total area of 488 square kilometers. It is China’s first national high-tech zone and the first national innovation demonstration zone.
